Gary S. Hoffman is the Harold Schott Professor at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He is Founder of the CC Center for Vasculitis Care and Research and Founder and past Chairman of the International Network for the Study of the Systemic Vasculitides (INSSYS). Prior to joining the Cleveland Clinic, he was the Head of Vasculitis and Related Diseases at the NIH. He has led investigations of new therapies for the treatment of vasculitis, has authored over 250 articles and chapters and edited 3 books. Dr. Hoffman is also the CC Director of Physician Volunteer Programs such as outreach for teens at risk in inner-city schools, Community Education Programs, Free Clinics, and international medical brigades.

His honors include the NIH Director’s Award, the NIAID Director’s Award, Wegener’s Foundation Award, William Ischmael Award, Pemberton Award, Ira Goldstein Memorial Award (NYU), the Sam and Maria Miller Award for excellence in clinical research as well as awards for teaching excellence. Dr. Hoffman is on the Editorial Boards of numerous rheumatology journals and is the Editor of Current Opinion in Rheumatology and Co-Editor of the textbook “Inflammatory Diseases of Blood Vessels”. He is a Master of the ACR.
