Michael Ehrenstein is Professor of Experimental Rheumatology at University College London and Honorary Consultant Rheumatologist at University College London Hospitals. He leads a research group investigating the immunoregulation of autoimmune rheumatic disease and is particularly interested in how novel therapies modulate the autoimmune response in the context of RA and SLE.  He established and leads the New Therapies in Rheumatic Disease Clinic at UCLH which focuses on patients with inflammatory arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis) where over 500 patients are being treated with biologic therapy such as anti-TNF. He also established the early inflammatory arthritis clinic at UCLH.  He is one of the consultants attending the UCLH SLE clinic.
