Scientific activities and international study groups
Scientific activities mainly concentrating on the clinical and immunological aspects, and on the diagnosis and therapy of systemic autoimmune diseases, in particular systemic lupus erythematosus, essential mixed cryoglobulinemia, Sjögren's syndrome, progressive systemic sclerosis, and polymyositis.
Group leader of the preparatory activity on "Diagnostic criteria for epidemiological studies of Sjögren's syndrome", financed by the Directorate for Biology of the Commission of the European Communities .
Coordinator of a European Consensus Group for "The definition of activity criteria in systemic lupus erythematosus", under the auspices of EULAR Standing Committee for Clinical Studies and Therapeutic Trials (ESCISIT).
Coordinator of the Multicenter Study for defining Disease Activity Criteria on Scleroderma on behalf of the European Scleroderma Study Group.
Coordinator (2000-2002) of the ACR Study Group on Sjögren's syndrome.
