Dr Anwar Samhari Mat Arshad currently is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Pain Physician at KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital, Malaysia. He received his basic medical degree from University of Malaya and subsequently trained in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in HUKM. He was awarded a prestigious National Scholarship to pursue MSc in Rheumatology in the United Kingdom and received his MRCP from Royal College of Physicians of United Kingdom. Subsequently he joined Ninewells Hospital, Dundee and Perth Royal Infirmary, Scotland for a higher specialist training in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. Dr Anwar Arshad is currently a Fellow of American College of Rheumatology, Fellow American College of Physician, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and Fellow of the Royal College of Physician of London.

He actively involves in CME and research and had authored numerous publications, as the first author in national/international scientific journal. He is also a journal scientific reviewer of many reputable international rheumatology journals. Dr Anwar Arshad was the Northern Region Advisor for Malaysian Society of Rheumatology and also a `Key Opinion Leader in Malaysia and Asia-Pacific region. His major interests are treatment, interventional pain management and musculoskeletal ultrasound. Dr Arshad also is the first rheumatologist in Asia to qualify as Fellow of Interventional Pain Practitioner conferred by the World Institute of Pain and currently serves as Chair of Malaysian Chapter of World Institute of Pain. He lectured and conducted various workshop in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound and Interventional Pain Management extensively at the National and International level and regular trainer/speaker for musculoskeletal ultrasound in most of the Asian congress.
