Şebnem Ataman
Professor Ataman, MD, PhD received her degree in medicine from Ankara University School of Medicine in 1986 and worked at the Ankara Dışkapı Social Security Hospital in 1987. She received her graduate degree in “Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation” from the Ankara University School of Medicine in 1991 and received her graduate degree in Rheumatology from the Ankara University School of Medicine in 1994.
Professor Ataman continues to serve as the Chief of Rheumatology Division of PM&R Department and the Faculty Member of Medical Education and Informatives Department at Ankara University School of Medicine. She is the President of the Turkish League Against Rheumatism Society and a member of National Committee for Rheumatology Curriculum that it has been developed by Ministry oh Health. Professor Ataman has lead the Turkish League Against Rheumatism (TLAR)- Rheumatoid Arthritis Research Group since 2003 and has worked in a number of areas including a long term TLAR- Rheumatoid Arthritis and and Ankylosing Spondylitis Registry projects in Turkey and the establishment of a TLAR- 2010 Recommendations for the Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Professor Ataman has served as a member of several education commitees and she is editorial board of several national journals. On behalf of Turkish League Against Rheumatism, she is owner president and and Responsible Manager of Turkish Journal of Rheumatology since 2008. She has published several papers and acted in key leadership roles in a variety of research projects both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Ataman’s special interests include inflammatory arthritis, especially rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthropathies.
