He was born in Trabzon, Turkey in 1970. He graduated from Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty in 1995. He worked as an internal medicine resident at Istanbul University, Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty, Department of Internal Medicine between 1996 to 2001. He completed his rheumatology fellowship at Trakya University, Trakya Medical Faculty, Division of Rheumatology in Edirne in 2004. He became an associate professor in rheumatology in 2006. He made research about tissue injury in the George Tsokos Laboratory in the Division of Rheumatology, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, USA between August 2009 to July 2010. He is the chief of the Division of Rheumatology at Trakya Medical Faculty, Edirne, Turkey. He is mainly interested in systemic lupus erythematosus, tissue injury and fibromyalgia. He is married and has two children.
