EiR Schools
Aim: to offer fellows international exposure and guidance for their academic career by mentoring senior Faculty.
Outcomes: by the end of the EiR School day, the fellows will have achieved:
1. Expertise and training on clinical practice related to systemic autoimmunity and arthritis
2. Networking opportunities with fellow colleagues and Faculty members
3. Unbiased advice on their future academic career steps and valuable first contacts with their mentoring Faculty members, for on-going support after the School has ended
EiR Schools during the EiR 2012 conference
The EiR Schools programme will span over one day, Wednesday 25 January, with EiR Schools taking place during the conference programme. The Schools topics will focus on:
- Systemic Autoimmunity
- Arthritis
Each attendee will present a case study or his/her research project in PowerPoint slide format. This will be reviewed and discussed in great depth together with both the other trainees and Faculty. This fulfills the purpose of Faculty members providing objective feedback and opens the unique opportunity for participants to expand their understanding on their topics of interest with the Faculty’s guidance.
The programme structure will allow for a maximum number of 12 participants for each school, who will stay together for the duration of the training.
A specific "career mentoring" session where Faculty and fellows will discuss in depth how to advance their academic careers, will close the programme.
Who should take part in the EiR Schools
Participants who would like to take part in the EiR Schools should be professionals completing their last two years of training in their specialty, having already acquired their MD (or equivalent) or PhD. All attendees should be qualified rheumatologists, internists or scientists with particular interest in the clinical aspects of systemic autoimmune diseases or arthritis and their effects on patient care.
With a maximum of 12 attendees per School, the number is limited. Priority will be given to applicants from developing/emerging countries* and Eastern European countries.
