Simon Bowman
Dr Simon Bowman is a Consultant Rheumatologist at University Hospital Birmingham and Honorary Clinical Reader at the University of Birmingham. His clinical training was in London and Oxford and his PhD was at UMDS Guy's Hospital, University of London. He has been in Birmingham UK since 1996.
He has had a longstanding clinical and research interest in Sjogren's syndrome. The focus of his research has been in the development of questionnaires and assessment tools to support clinical trials in this condition. He is co-investigator with Dr Wan-Fai Ng and colleagues of the UK Primary Sjogren's Syndrome Registry supported by the Medical Research Council, UK, is Co-convenor of the EULAR Task Force on Outcome Measures on Primary Sjogren's Syndrome and is leading, with colleagues, a clinical trial of rituximab in Sjogren's syndrome supported by Arthritis Research UK.
He is Medical President of the British Sjogren's Syndrome Association and has also served on the Medical Advisory Board of the Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation, USA.
He has been an invited speaker/chair of sessions on Sjogren's syndrome at UK and International Meetings including the British Society for Rheumatology, the American College of Rheumatology, the EULAR Annual Meeting and International Symposia on Sjogren's Syndrome.
