Research experience:

I have worked in research at the RNHRD since 1996. Initially involved in an arc funded study as a research nurse, in 1997 I was appointed to run a clinical trial in anti-TNF studies in rheumatology. This post also included managing two other clinical trials. My appointment in 1999 as Clinical Nurse Specialist in Connective Tissue Diseases has included research as a part of the main purpose of the post. Research studies I have co-ordinated since then include:

1999 Aspirin Low Intensity Anticoagulation Phospholipid Antibody Study

2001 Observational Study in Early Diffuse Systemic Sclerosis

2003 Qualitative Primary Research study evaluating the patient’s experience of attending a lupus or scleroderma education programme – primary researcher2008 Qualitative Research project (AR-UK Educational Project Grant) investigating information needs of newly diagnosed lupus patients – principal investigator2009 Digital Outcomes Registry (DUO)
2010 Supervising nursing input to research studies: current studies include AOMIC, DUO, UKPSSR, Cardiovascular outcomes in Sjögren’s syndrome, GRACE, PEST, LOPAS

I am line manager for a team of clinical research nurses in CTD, PsA and RA
